About

Hello and welcome!  I’m Penny, the mom behind Pretty Simple Mom.  So glad you found your way here so I can share what this site is all about.

It feels good to be organized.

Am I right?!  Really … it’s my happy place.  Being organized means less stress and less wasted resources.  It frees up our time and energy to focus on important things.  And it enables us to be a positive example so our kids are more likely to learn and adopt our good habits.

It feels good to be creative.

I think of this as the flip side to being organized.  When I’m well-organized, there is more time and energy to do things that I enjoy and that bless others.  And there are *so* many ways to be creative.  For me, it means making beautiful things, and making things beautiful.

Progress is the goal, not perfection.

Making progress, taking action, succeeding in small things, all motivate us to do more. Now don’t get me wrong.  I like to do things *well*.  And I’ve learned this lesson the hard way.  But is there any such thing as perfection? Um, no. If there was, I’d get there and want to change something!
I want you to love visiting Pretty Simple Mom and look forward to reading our emails, to get practical information that makes a difference in your daily life, and to see beautiful things that inspire you.

Let me introduce myself with a few facts:

→ I'm a wife and mom.

My two favorite things to be … with my two favorite people!

→ I'm fascinated by how things are designed.

Whether its a web page or a coffee pot, there’s both art and science in making things that people use.  Good design makes our lives better in more ways than we realize.

→ I love being self-employed.

I’ve been working for myself for 15+ years, designing, building and running websites and web businesses.  Before taking this leap, I worked for both Fortune 500 companies and small startups.  My favorite ‘job’ has been entrepreneur, but I’ve learned a lot from all of them.

→ I'm a natural redhead, freckles and all.

I wasn’t always so crazy about this.  Now that I’m grown up, I wouldn’t trade it.

→ I'm always up for a good mystery movie.

If I had to pick my favorite, it would be a classic British whodunnit.

→ I was an organized child.

According to my mom, I used to tidy up the shelves in the grocery store : )

Thanks for reading!  Looking forward to talking to you again soon.
